Web strategy and measurement expert Phil Kemelor has joined SEMphonic, a leading web analytics consultancy. In his role as Vice President of Strategic Consulting Services, Kemelor will help companies deploy and use web analytics successfully.

Kemelor, a noted author and speaker on web analytics, is a former journalist, marketing executive and 14-year Internet veteran. He has 10 years of experience in web analytics and previously headed the web analytic program at Bell Atlantic. He co-founded and served as Principal Consultant for the web analytics consultancy at NetGenesis, one of the first web analytic software firms and led engagements with a number of Fortune 500 firms. He has also headed Web development, business process and operations initiatives for Verizon, SAIC and government agencies including the US Postal Service.

According to Gary Angel, SEMphonic's President, "The addition of Kemelor is both a strategic and tactical win for the company." Angel continues, "Phil complements our practice beautifully. We've always been tremendously strong in terms of advanced analytics and measurement. Phil helps us support large clients who are focused on Executive Reporting and analytics strategy. That's been a growing niche for us. We're also committed to being a fully national consultancy -- and Phil's presence in Washington, D.C. adds to our East Coast team."

"Large organizations are ripe to understand and benefit from focusing their business applications on real-world issues," said Kemelor. "The next step is to have professionals like myself on the ground aligning the web analytics technology with client needs.

"It's exciting to be a part of SEMphonic. A company that's clearly demonstrated that it is a thought and practice leader in this rapidly emerging field."

In addition to strategic consulting, Kemelor will be helping SEMphonic build out their product and educational offerings. "We've accumulated a lot of intellectual capital in the last few years around implementation, vendor selection and analytics practice -- areas Phil adds to -- and we'd like to be more aggressive about taking advantage of that," says Angel.

Most recently Kemelor penned "The Web Analytics Report" for CMS Watch and will continue writing his blog focused on the web analytics vendor marketplace for CMS Watch and Intelligent Enterprise Magazine.

"There just aren't many web analytics practitioners with both experience and perspective that Phil brings to the table," adds Gary Angel. "I first talked with Phil after reading his book, 'The Executive Guide to Web Site Measurement and Testing.' The clarity of his presentation and the lack of hyperbole resonated with me and with our practice style. He'll be a great fit."
